Abby SykasAbigail J. Sykas

Abigail Sykas is a transplant to New Hampshire from Connecticut who hasestablished strong ties to New Hampshire through her business and volunteer roles.

Abby is Vice President of Development and Public Relations at Havenwood-Heritage Heights, a continuing care retirement community in Concord.

As part of the senior management team she leads the organization’s fundraising and public relations activities, including directing the organization’s signature fundraiser, a women’s professional golf tournament.  She is also an adjunct professor teaching Sports Law at Concord’s New Hampshire Technical Institute.
 
Additionally, Abby volunteers with a number of organizations.  In 2006, she graduated from the Vesta Roy Excellence in Public Service Series and is now the Vice Chair of its Board of Governors.  She is the Social Chair of the Concord Young Professionals Network’s Steering Committee, also serving as an ex-officio member of the Concord Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.  Abby is a long-time member of the Seacoast Federation of Republican Women, and was previously that organization’s general counsel.

In October 2007, after nearly five years of service, Abby transitioned off the board of the CareGivers, a volunteer based organization helping the frail, elderly and disabled to maintain their independence and dignity.  She has also held substantial volunteer roles with other organizations, including the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Law Related Education Committee, the American Cancer Society’s Greater Manchester Relay For Life, and the Explorer Post Program of the Daniel Webster Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Abby graduated cum laude from Vermont Law School, and is admitted to the bars of New Hampshire and Vermont.  Prior to attending law school, Abby obtained a bachelor of the arts in political science from the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

When she is not golfing, going to the beach or finding some other excuse to be outdoors, Abby lives in Londonderry with her two Maine Coon cats, Orion and Cassie.
