Carole
Alfano
For
the past sixteen years, Carole Alfano has worked both ends of the
political spectrum as a speech writer, communications director,
television reporter and producer. She is also a licensed
attorney.
Currently, Carole is manager of Public Relations for the Pease
Development Authority – an independent state agency charged with
managing the former Pease Air Force Base that now includes the
Tradeport, Portsmouth International Airport, the Port of New Hampshire
and the Pease Golf Course.
Carole was also recently employed as a speech writer in the Office of
Governor of the State of Massachusetts in Boston. She wrote
remarks for all occasions ranging from business and economic
development to policy issues and ceremonial events.
From 1998 – 2005 Carole worked for the New Hampshire State Senate as
Communications Director and Special Assistant to the Senate
President. There, she wrote speeches, press releases,
correspondence and talking points. She also acted as a liaison
with the media and was responsible for prepping senators for interviews
and organizing news conferences. During this time, she organized the
first-ever summit for press secretaries in state government held at the
Institute of Politics at St. Anselm’s College.
In the summer of 2000, Carole served as press secretary for Dr. Jim
Squires during his gubernatorial bid.
Prior to entering politics, Carole spent over 10 years as an
award-winning television reporter and producer at WMUR-TV, WNDS-TV and
New Hampshire Public Television. Her credentials also include
being the Executive Producer of the 2000 Presidential Primary Debates
hosted by Tim Russert and the late Peter Jennings. Additionally,
she worked as a reporter for WGIR-AM and WZID-FM.
Ms. Alfano has served two fellowships: The Reporters Committee for
Freedom of the Press in Washington, D.C and the CORO Foundation in
Kansas City.
Carole is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, the
Northeast Broadcasting School and William Woods University in Fulton,
MO. She is a life-time member of Greyhound Placement Service and a
licensed youth soccer coach. She lives in Exeter with her husband
Michael, daughter Katie and an extensive Pez collection.
