Nancy Sinnott Dwight

Nancy Dwight is a New Hampshire business owner and community leader who in her professional political career was the first woman to direct a national party committee. In 1981 at age 30, she became the executive director of the National Republican Congressional Committee in Washington, D.C., after serving as its campaign director for the historic 1980 election cycle. She also served as Vice Chairman of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee, a congressional campaign manager in Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional district, and campaign manager and advisor to numerous Republican campaigns before her career in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Dwight is a partner in Dwight Partners, Inc., a communications and public affairs consultancy, and a director of Newspapers of New England, Inc., publisher of daily and weekly newspapers serving Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Until 2006, she served on the National Museum and Library Services Board, appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate in 2003. A former chairman of the board, she currently serves as a trustee of the Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich, Vermont, a renowned science and education center serving northern New England. Her other community commitments have included service as trustee of an independent day school in Lyme, Crossroads Academy; trustee of Deerfield Academy, an independent secondary school in Massachusetts; co-chairman of the Lyme Foundation capital campaign for the Lyme elementary school, board member of the Friends of Hopkins Center and Hood Museum, fund-raiser for a Habitat for Humanity house in Lyme, and trustee of the Polly Logan Fund, Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy, University of Massachusetts, Boston. She currently serves on the Advisory Board to Umass Boston’s McCormick School for Government and Politics. She has also lectured on “Campaign Planning” at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

A lifelong Republican, Nancy was a delegate to the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City and served on the Bush-Cheney Steering committees in New Hampshire for the 2000 and 2004 campaigns.

Married in 1982 to Donald R. Dwight, they reside in New Hampshire and Boston. She and Don have two children, Christopher, 23, and Helen, 21. Nancy is a magna cum laude graduate of Wheaton College in Massachusetts but was raised in America’s heartland – Illinois.
