Leann Moccia 2011 NHFRW Woman of the Year
Oct 18,2011, 9:12AM

Congratulations to Leann Moccia, who is a 2004 graduate of the Vesta Roy Series and the current Chairwoman of the Vesta Roy Series Board of Governors!  On October 15, 2011, Leann was named the New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women's 2011 Woman of the Year.  Below is the nomination sent to the NHFRW by the Seacoast Republican Women:

The board of SRW had numerous nominations for the 2011 Woman of the Year, but overwhelmingly chose Leann Moccia as our nominee. Leann has made significant contributions to New Hampshire Republicans and in particular, Republican women. Her leadership exemplifies the mission of the National and State Federation. The five objectives of the NHFRW are clearly met when reviewing Leann’s involvement in many organizations and her devotion to the core principles of the Republican Party.

Although Leann has been a devoted Republican all her life, her launch into political activism began in 2004 when she participated in and graduated from the first class of the Vesta Roy Series, a leadership and training program for NH Republican women interested in public service. Since then, Leann has grown through the ranks of the Vesta Roy organization serving on the board as Program Chair, Vice Chair to the present Chair. In her many roles, she revamped the nine month training program and helped develop a one day Vesta Roy Express, a “crash” course to introduce the women to the series and teach many of the skills in the longer program. Through her steadfast commitment to the organization, Leann has ensured the continuity and financial stability of the organization by managing successful fundraisers and promoting the series at numerous Republican events throughout the state.  Since Leann’s involvement on the Vesta Roy board, 23 women have graduated from the series; 8 have run for office and 7 have been elected with many others serving on County or Town Committees and managing and working on candidate’s campaigns.

Similar to her rise in Vesta Roy, Leann used her talents and skills to become the President of the Seacoast Republican Women (SRW) from 2006 to 2009. As President, Leann continued to grow SRW’s reputation as a successful and a valuable asset in the New Hampshire GOP arsenal. At the same time, SRW increased its financial strength, providing a sound foundation to promote the Republican ideals and support Republican candidates. Under her leadership SRW contributed over $9,000 to candidates running for office in 2008, and lead her membership in their grassroots efforts. As the largest club in the state federation, SRW has taken the lead in its involvement within the state and local community. SRW, under Leann’s leadership, supported the Pease Greeters both financially and by welcoming our troops, day and night, on their way to and from protecting our freedoms overseas. Other military organizations contributed to included Liberty House, Honor Flight New England and the Dan Healy Memorial. Additionally, Leann oversaw three scholarship awarded: the Stella Scamman Scholarship to a club member for furthering her knowledge in the Republican Party; The President’s Scholarship to aide and support a Republican in pursuit of their interest in the Republican Party, and the High School Essay Contest to promote a youth’s critical thinking in civic government.

As President of the Seacoast Republican Woman, Leann sat on the NHFRW board and continues to serve on that board. At the 2009 National Federation Biennial Convention, SRW won the Gold Achievement Award for demonstrating overall excellence in membership development, campaign activities and programs and the New England Regional Caring for America Award for excellence in community outreach.
